We first saw this car posted late last week, and we figured it’d be gone before posting today, but its still here, so here we go. Do you know how much we LOVE Carmon Red at Firstflatsix? A LOT! Not to be confused with Orient Red, or Arena Red. This color is super rare to find on a 996 these days.
2004 was the 3rd year for the updated/facelifted 996. The 996.2 narrowbody base Carrera had underbody fittings for improved aerodynamics, front and rear bumpers were restyled, but most importantly Porsche gave the Carrera the Turbo’s updated headlights with standard bi-Xenon lamps (no more Boxster look!).
The wheels on this car are 18″ Carrera Lightweights. No indication of tire wear/condition from the seller.
This 996.2 sports the 3.6L M96/03 type producing 320 HP. These new engines also came with a new VariocamPlus system and a new DME that mimics the Turbos minus the boost control. Unfortunately, the M96/03 still suffers from the same IMS issues as the M96/02. This seller hasn’t indicated any IMS/RMS work, so budget accordingly.
This car is appears to be optioned with some nice factory options such as the factory sport exhaust (XLF), PSM (standard on all 2003+ Carreras) and Sport Shifter. This was definitely originally purchased by an enthusiast.
The interior is finished in “Savanah Beige” standard leather and some custom interior option (perhaps the alcantera headliner?). It’s sporting heated seats and crests in both the seats and center console (never seen that before).
Price may be a TAD high considering it doesn’t have any IMS/RMS work done. Then again, this isn’t silver/black so maybe it is worth the slight premium even without the IMS work so again, budget accordingly. Don’t forget that PPI! Make this Carmon Red 996 your #firstflatsix
