The wheels are atrocious, we know! Besides that, this car is a WINNER. It won’t be available long as this car checks all of the boxes for a firstflatsix. We have said this 110X but I will repeat it for the new readers, we REALLY like the simplicity of the narrowbody 996 Carrera. In particular the 99’s because of the cable connected throttle and the optional factory Limited Slip Differential, which is EXACTLY what we have here.
Super early production date here, March 1998 car!!! The earliest we have come across were a few Feb ’98 cars. This car as we like to say here, represents the trinity for early 996’s, LSD, Cable-Throttle and 4 spoke steering wheel. Modern enough, but still brings the nostalgic feelings of the 993. We don’t spy many exterior options at all, we’re just seeing headlight washers, aftermarket 19″ Moda wheels from the likes of Tirerack and what appears to be stainless steel exhaust tips. They don’t appear to be factory to us though. Early car, so yay on the fried egg headlights and rear ambers.
As for the interior, we spy graphite grey leather, powered/heated SPORT seats (very rare), and thats pretty much it. Looks to be a very base Carrera which is fine by us, less things to break 🙂
This car is perfect spec. 296Hp, 6sp, cable throttle, LSD, Sport Seats and 4 spoke 993 steering wheel? Where do we sign up? CarFax appears clean; 2 owners no accidents (see it on the dealers site). Don’t forget the PPI. Remember the 99’s have the stronger dual row IMS bearing that had a lower failure rate than the later single row bearings. We’d still get it swapped for peace of mind though. Make this classic Carrera your firstflatsix.
